Katie is best known as the ONLY female rider to successfully land the Mount Everest of snowboarding tricks – the Backside double-cork 1080, he trick being captured on video and making a Youtube sensation of Katie’s talent. All the more impressive that she did this when she was still just sixteen.
Not bad for the girl from Brighouse West Yorkshire who started early, age only five, at the Halifax dry-slope. Katie has gone on to join the National Junior squad at 13 and at 14 won senior Slopestyle and Big Air Competitions at the British Championships in 2012, with a victory in the Halfpipe the following year.
She also finished 2nd at the 2013 Burton European Junior Open slopestyle, and became only the 5th woman ever to land a double backflip.
Katie is the first ever British female snowboarder to bring home a medal in 18 years of FIS Snowboard Junior World Championships (slopestyle Bronze in Valmalenco 2014).
Katie unfortunately missed a season due to an ACL tear. The trick was a simple one but attempted in difficult conditions.
Now Katie has put the injury behind her and is back to Shredding alongside the best in the world winning the Pleasure Jam title at the end of 2015 and Slopestyle success at the Brits this year.
The next challenge? A medal in the Olympics at the 2018 Games in Pyeongchang.
“I would love to win it,” she says. “I’ll be going there to get the gold.”
